Meeting Point is a joint initiative of the Catholic Education Office Melbourne, the Independent Education Union Victoria Tasmania, the Australian Catholic University, Good Shepherd Youth and Family Service, Catholic Social Services Victoria, and the Brigidine Secondary Schools Council.
Operating within a framework of inclusivity and the promotion of personal and community wellbeing since 1997, the project has the following broad intentions:
- To encourage the Catholic community, through its agencies, together with Catholic education, to meet together and reflect on their mission to serve the most disadvantaged and vulnerable families within the community
- To develop and communicate an awareness of affordability issues within Catholic education and to explore the relationship between this issue and accessibility of Catholic education for Catholic families as schools of first choice
- To encourage schools to adopt a comprehensive approach to accountability that recognises the interrelationship between financial management, contemporary curriculum, social inclusion, and pastoral well-being policies and practices.
